General Update

Update on sister: One of my sisters moved to Colorado two weeks ago. She's been talking about moving for years, and although the location changed over time, the desire didn't. Despite my attempts to reason with her that simply changing location wasn't going to change the things she didn't like about her life, she didn't listen. (Must be that stubborn thing that runs in our family. As the oldest, I got the greatest share, but she's 2nd in line, so fairly stubborn herself.) So, she made some changes, quit her job, and moved. And now she's back. She called two days ago and decided she missed her family too much. So, she packed herself and her cat back up in her car and drove 13+ hours back home. Arrrgggg. OK, if she would have stayed for 6 months or a year and at least given the move a go, then came back, that would have been one thing. But no! A week and a half and then makes an emotional decision to come back home! Puh-lease. *shakes head and doesn't quite know what to think* Update on knee: Feeling better already, but maybe that's because I didn't run on it this morning. Went to a Chivas tasting last night and enjoyed some 'Sidecar Martini's'. YUM! But, I also had plans to run with friends tonight instead, so I still will run today. But, for now at least the swelling is noticeably down, and my oh-so-sexy scrape on my knee is starting to heal. Still will visit Dr. Pain on Monday though. Update on races: Well, not my race this time. One of my good friends is running her first Ultra this weekend. She and her husband left for Wyoming this morning to race the Big Horn Mountain 50 mile. Thursday to Tuesday and she packed 7 pairs of shoes...granted, 5 pairs are running shoes, but still. Keep them in your thoughts and send positive vibes their way for a good run (and no bears)! There's snow on the ground too! In June!
Update on the Update on races: My friend just called, and she and her hubby made it into Wyoming. They checked into their Bed & Breakfast moments ago, and the owner walked them to their cabin...1/2 mile from the main house. He told them "This door's just been replaced because we've been having sort of a problem with bears." LOL! This was my friend's greatest fear during the race...being attacked/eaten by a bear. Now not only does she have to worry about bears on trail, she has to worry about bears in bed! Hope she packed her bear repellant!
Update on photos from Rock Stick: These will be picked up from the Target photo lab tonight. I will upload them later! Can't wait to see me dirty, can ya? ;)

  • *shakes head at sister as well* I was tempted to do that a few times, but decided to stay put. Location doesn't have a thing to do with happiness.

  • sounds like it's taking your sister a long time to grow up. Hope you don't grow old waiting for her to do so! :)

I've never been to a Chivas tasting, thought it sounded pretty intersting.

and the Big Horn Mountain race sounds REALLY interesting. I can't wait to see Wyoming someday. But um, I think i'll hike, not run the 50 miles. ;)

And I hope your knee feels better soon!

  • When I get to Colorado, you'll have to drag my cold, dead corpse over the state line in order to get me to leave.

  • 50 miles in bear country? I think I'd take more than 7 pairs of shoes.

Sounds like the sis is having a wishy-washy time... or she went to a really gross part of Colorado.
